Happy (Almost) Birthday!

The almost-birthday-boy promised not to sneak a peek at my blog so that I could write this post. I had pulled out card stock and supplies to start this project when I received a hint that he really liked the color combination, so a birthday card is the result!
My inspiration came from two different challenges, one for color (KWernerDesign) and one for editing (Sideoats + Scribbles). For this particular project I decided to use some chipboard pieces that I have had for a couple of years but never did anything with. I go through phases where I over-use a certain element, technique or embellishment. Lately it’s been chipboard. While I did color the pieces on this card with ink, I usually cover larger chipboard pieces with designer paper (that is a whole different process).

There is something valuable that I learned in Photoshop that I had been doing wrong (or at least not the most correct way) for such a long time- – and that is with levels. I am big into photo editing, and one of the first things I do is adjust the levels to take out the grayness (?) in the picture. What I discovered in this photo editing tutorial is that I was missing a step: to enhance the whiteness. Duh. I am not sure how I missed that one. Now I know better!
I think that the Birthday Boy will really like his card
